Exploring the different cultural experiences with winter holidays in Hong Kong

One of the first articles on my blog was about becoming a local in a new environment and that is certainly one of the most exciting experiences one can ever have. Expats living and working here in Hong Kong and all over the world would relate to my new topic. It is about getting to know the way winter holidays are celebrated in a new location and how workspaces can help their employees enjoy it better.

To get a few practical insights, I met Jacqueline Gomis who is a diversity and inclusion advocate and founder of Allrooted, a global network specialized in cultural diversity. Allrooted work with businesses here in Hong Kong to drive cultural diversity change in their workplaces. “During this holiday season, we need to ask ourselves how to embrace diversity and inclusion and make workplace celebrations enjoyable for everyone in the office”, said Jacqueline Gomis.

We found this topic to be particularly interesting to explore in Hong Kong because of its unique position as a bridge between Mainland China and the West. Local people really cherish their time off with families during the period of late January and early February when they celebrate Lunar New Year.
